Finance Expert shares likely outcome of Everton appeal, quick outcome on cards

Dan Plumley has insisted that it is likely that Everton will still end up with some kind of points deduction following their appeal to the Premier League.

The finance expert admitted that it is highly unlikely that all 10 points will be handed back to them following their Profit and Sustainability breaches, although a quick outcome is on the cards.

Everton are expected to find out by mid-February if they were successful with their appeal after it was heard at the start of the month over three days.

“It’s a good sign in terms of the verdict being done pretty quickly,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“I tend to agree with the line of thought that we will still see some sort of points deduction for Everton, so from a fan perspective, I don’t think they’re going to get off with all those points wiped off again.

A quick resolution was certainly needed for the Premier League and the wider picture on those regulations because we’ve got a second charge pending against Everton, there is the situation at Nottingham Forest, nobody wants uncertainty on points deductions dragging until late in the season, and that starts to question the sporting integrity of the league.

So, I think for everybody concerned, even if it doesn’t go the way that Everton particularly wants, but a quick resolution on the appeal was needed for the sake of this season.”

Appeal outcome at Everton

It is expected that the new stadium, as well as attempts to cut back alongside the Premier League, will have been used in defence, but it is uncertain if that will work.

Even getting the penalty cut in half would put Everton up to 14th and four points clear of the relegation zone, so that would be a massive win.

Time will tell, the answer is near.
