Everton v Manchester City: Doctor shares Ben Godfrey injury news
Everton defender Ben Godfrey is expected to be fit and ready to play against Manchester City on Saturday, 10 February, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that he could have faced up to a few weeks out if the cramp had been more complicated and extreme.
However, that’s not understood to be the case based on what Sean Dyche has said, meaning there is a chance of him being part of the matchday squad in the Premier League clash.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Godfrey:
“Dyche mentioned that his calf tightened up and the club had to make a decision to mitigate the pain and injury.
“The best case would be a normal cramp in which case he will be fine and the worst case would be if the cramp indicates a muscle injury which could see him missing for weeks.
“In that case, it really depends on the specifics.
“However, it appears to be more of the former than the latter so I’m expecting him to be fit.“
Godfrey unlikely to start for Everton
Even if he’s fit, there is a chance that Dyche goes for Ashley Young in that role as he’s done better at it this season.
There’s also a chance of Seamus Coleman returning to the starting eleven as he made his injury comeback recently for the Toffees.
It’s understood that Coleman may be fit enough to be named in the starting eleven which could see Godfrey dropping to the bench.

Godfrey is an important option on the bench as he’s capable of playing all across the back line for Everton.
