Everton learn date of Premier League FFP appeal verdict

Everton have learned the date that they will receive a verdict for their appeal against FFP charges by the Premier League, according to Nottingham Post.

The club were docked 10 points by the Premier League for breaching profit and sustainability rules but immediately appealed the decision, and have since been charged a second time for further breaches.

It has been reported previously that a decision on the appeal was expected in mid-February, but it has now been reported (13 February) that the Toffees have learned an exact date with a decision “expected this week”.

“Everton learn Premier League FFP appeal vrdict date as Nottingham Forest watch on,” they wrote.

“Everton are set to learn the verdict of their appeal against a 10-point deduction this week as Nottingham Forest watch on.”

Everton hope for good news with FFP appeal verdict

The removal of 10 points from the total that Everton have earned this season has been catastrophic for the Toffees, with the club now firmly in a relegation battle rather than sitting comfortably in mid-table.

Sean Dyche has spoken out already about the club knowing they have a job to do on the pitch regardless of the outcome, but there’s no doubt that the pressure of relegation for yet another season when it’s not the players’ fault this time is having an effect.

The fans have been protesting loudly and pushing for change, while most of the football world was absolutely stunned by the verdict at the time.

If the independent panel have paid any attention to that at all, they will know that the deduction is far too severe and things should be changed.

Even giving the club back half the points would be a big help, because nobody is suggesting that zero punishment is the answer. But it has to be fair and justified, so fingers crossed they come to the right decision.
