Simon Jordan shares £80m Jarrad Branthwaite verdict after what he saw at Everton
Simon Jordan has slated Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite live on air after his altercation with Erling Haaland against Manchester City on Saturday 10 February.
The Toffees centre-back was bundled out of the way by the Premier League’s top scorer, before slotting past Jordan Pickford to double Man City’s lead in a 2-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
The former Crystal Palace chairman was full of praise for Haaland, as he registered his 16th league goal of the season, and gave a harsh view on Branthwaite after being rag-dolled in the build-up.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Tuesday (14 February, 10:46am), Jordan said: “Erling Haaland played at such a level where he made that centre-back look relatively pedestrian.
“People talk about him being an £80million centre-back. Okay, fine, he’s good.”
Jarrad Branthwaite worth millions at Everton
Jordan’s comments on Branthwaite say far more about Haaland than it does the Everton defender. The Man City forward has the potential to do that to any defender.
The Toffees defender is no exception, even despite being one of the biggest prospects in the Premier League to date. The 21-year-old has started 21 of Everton’s 24 league matches, creating a stable partnership with James Tarkowski.
He has even shoved Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey down the pecking order under Sean Dyche, claiming his spot in the starting XI after experiencing an important loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season.

Branthwaite was one of the best players on the pitch up until Haaland’s late brace, as Everton looked like they could keep a clean sheet against the current Premier League champions.
And even despite the incident with Haaland, Branthwaite is still one of the highest-valued defenders in the top division, and the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid will not be put off a summer transfer for him.
