Everton vs Crystal Palace: Simon Jordan makes Premier League relegation prediction on talkSPORT

Simon Jordan believes Everton will defeat Crystal Palace in their upcoming fixture, but does not expect the Eagles to be relegated.

The two sides face off in a big game at the bottom end of the Premier League at Goodison Park on Monday night (19 February).

Palace are badly out of form and are just five points above Everton, who occupy the final relegation spot having had 10 points deducted.

While Jordan expects that gap to become even tighter, he does not believe the club he was previously chairman of will drop into the Championship.

“Going to Everton at the weekend, do I expect Palace to beat Everton? No, not really,” he said on talkSPORT [15 February, 11:04].

“I expect Palace to be in the game and make it difficult, but Everton to get across the line one way or another.

“The best-case scenario, if Palace can get a draw, do the job against Burnley and Luton, all of a sudden they need four points from 12 games to stay in the league. Come on.”

Premier League relegation battle heating up

Everton have taken just three points from the past 21 on offer, which it goes without saying is a terrible return regardless of events off the field.

That has coincided with an upturn in form for Luton Town, meaning the Toffees find themselves in the relegation zone with 14 games to go.

However, Palace and Nottingham Forest are themselves struggling to pick up victories and are looking nervously over their shoulders.

The Palace example is pertinent because they travel to Goodison next week. Should Everton win that, there is no doubt the Eagles are in trouble.

It is all well and good Jordan saying ‘if they win this, win that’, but the bottom line is they cannot win games at the moment.

That is why this upcoming clash is so massive for both clubs. At this point of the season, a two-point gap or eight-point gap can make a huge difference.
