Everton: Karoline Olesen suffers serious injury v West Ham United Women
Everton women’s striker Karoline Olesen needed to be taken off with a stretcher in the 2-0 win against West Ham on Sunday, 18 February.
The Liverpool Echo journalist Beth Lindop claims that it does not look good for the 19-year-old midfielder.
She moved to the club in the summer and has become a first-team player in her debut campaign.
Via Twitter, Olesen wrote: “A really sad sight here at Walton Hall Park as Karoline Olesen is stretchered off after a late challenge from Gorry. Doesn’t look good for the teenager and takes the shine off what is going to be a really important win for Everton.”
Olesen loss a big blow for Everton
The teenager’s departure from the match on a stretcher following a late challenge raises concerns about the extent of her injury and its potential implications for the Toffees Women.
Given the severity of the incident and Lindop’s grim assessment, it’s plausible that Olesen may have suffered a significant injury, possibly to her leg or knee.
To ensure Olesen’s well-being and minimise risks down the line, the standard procedure would likely involve immediate scans to accurately diagnose the extent of the injury.
Depending on the diagnosis, treatment options may include rest, physical therapy, or in severe cases, surgery, which cannot be ruled out at this stage.
Additionally, Everton’s medical team would closely monitor Olesen’s progress and collaborate with specialists to provide comprehensive care and support throughout her recovery journey.
As of now, it’s hard to predict, but there is a good chance she will not be available for the Merseyside derby next month.
