Everton takeover news: £500m+ problem could emerge for Farhad Moshiri

Dan Plumley has insisted that having debts over £500million could be really problematic for Everton if the 777 Partners takeover does not go through.

With the £190million pumped into the club by the American firm joined by the £340million owed to Rights Media and Funding and MSP Sports Capital, the figure is rising.

If 777 Partners were successful with their takeover bid though, that £190million would be wiped off instantly at Goodison Park.

“It’s really problematic,” the football finance expert exclusively told Goodison News.

“There is another problem that you have got to solve and if that money has been paid in and has been committed, if they do want it back if the takeover falls through, then you’ve got to find that money, that’s the ultimate reality of it.

“That then places more pressure back on Moshiri as the current owner and we know that the financial situation is not great at club level as well, so it becomes really problematic.

I don’t think it would be fatal, but it certainly, if it plays out that way will not be nice for the club.

Also, overlay we don’t know what is going to happen with the appeal, we don’t know what the points deduction will be, we don’t know whether or not they will be a Premier League club next season and that brings with it huge financial implications in terms of loss of TV revenue.

When you factor all those things in, there is still a lot of risk built into this at the minute and it is still a cause for concern, there is no other way to view it.”

With the potential debt hitting £530million and 777 Partners still basically funding day-to-day costs and the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium build, this takeover collapsing could be a disaster.

As Moshiri appears to be more involved with the club again despite making it clear he wants out, questions are rightly starting to be asked now.
