Everton: Jamie Carragher slams Farhad Moshiri in new administration verdict live on Sky Sports

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has made a “huge mistake” by dealing exclusively with 777 Partners and the Toffees could now face administration, according to Jamie Carragher.

Moshiri has agreed on a deal in principle with the American investment firm to acquire his 94.1 per cent stake in the Toffees, but 777 Partners are yet to receive approval from the Premier League to complete their takeover.

While waiting for this approval, Moshiri has not negotiated with any other parties, despite there being no exclusivity between the two parties and Carragher worries that the decision could come back to bite the the Toffees financially.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday (19 February, 18:56) he said: “There’s no doubt Moshiri has checked out and there will be somebody else owning Everton football club. If Everton go down, you’re talking not just the team going down, they could be close to administration, that’s how bad the finances are now.

“I always go back to the owner of the football club and in terms of the points deduction and dealing with this group and not letting anybody else get involved like they’ve got exclusivity, that’s a huge mistake.”

Administration has been a fear touted around Goodison Park for a while, such has been the worry around Everton’s finances under Moshiri’s ownership, with 777’s investment keeping the Toffees’ head above the water.

However, should the American investment firm’s deal fall through, it could be incredibly bleak for Everton as they will be left with huge debts that any potential new owner will more than likely have to pay off.

Farhad Moshiri will be keen to find new Everton owners.

Most supporters would therefore hope that this deal will be concluded and the Premier League will give 777 their blessing, but their ownerships at other clubs around the world has led to reservations from the Toffees’ fanbase.

Hopefully, some sort of clarity will emerge out of Merseyside sooner rather than later and the Toffees will be able to plan for the future with some knowledge of the ownership of the club.
