Ex-Everton Scout shares Jarrad Branthwaite transfer verdict as ‘refinance’ claim made
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite could be the player used if the club need to refinance, according to former Toffees scout Bryan King.
The ex-Goodison Park employee did, however, shut down any links with Spanish giants Real Madrid, with the Daily Mail reporting earlier this month (13 February) that the La Liga side have enquired about Branthwaite.
Former Everton defender Phil Jagielka believes the young star has “massive” potential, comparing him with another ex-Toffees ace in John Stones.
Speaking to Goodison News, King said: “I think this is paper and agent talk, to be honest. I was working at Everton when Jagielka was captain, and you’re talking about somebody who made a marvellous contribution to the club in every shape and form.
“He is a true legend for the club, for his behaviour on and off the field, his performances, he was always solid. I remember that marvellous goal he scored from distance. He proved what a good player he was, outstanding. At this moment in time, maybe he’s trying to do promotion work for Everton…
“Branthwaite has done well, proved that he could be a player. I can never see him going to Real Madrid, I don’t know where that’s come from.
“But he’s one of the players at the club that, if you are going to refinance or you want money in, then he’s a name that is going to be used in that capacity.”
Everton to lose Branthwaite?
It would definitely be a shame for Sean Dyche and the Toffees if they were to lose one of their star players, particularly given that he hasn’t been in the first team for very long.
But a sale is most certainly on the cards this summer given both the club’s financial worries and their Premier League struggles.

The one silver lining from his potential exit would, of course, be the fee, particularly if European giants Real Madrid were the ones to sign him.
In other Everton news, John Cross seems to suggest one Toffees loanee should be fined as he sparks a Premier League player discussion.
