Everton: Major appeal news as three people confidentiality-bound before Premier League contact

The Premier League have no control over when the news surrounding the outcome of an appeal against a 10-point deduction launched by Everton will be announced, according to Martin Lipton.

The Sun’s chief football writer revealed on his X account on Thursday (22 February) that the only people who know when the news will be delivered to Everton and the Premier League are the three people who sat on the independent commission to hear the appeal.

Lipton pointed out that the three involved are bound to confidentiality and as such there has not been any leak from the Premier League about the timing of the decision being made public.

Everton were punished way back in November after being found guilty of breaching the league’s Profit and Sustainability rules and the appeal hearing against the decision was wrapped up at the start of this month.

When will Everton hear the outcome of their appeal against the 10-point Premier League deduction?

This whole situation has been a complete mess from start to finish and the honest truth is no one really knows when the Toffees are likely to hear the outcome of their appeal.

What is certain is that there is a real time-sensitive situation ongoing, though.

Everton, as we know, were hit with a second PSR charge – this time alongside Nottingham Forest – and any punishment for those charges, if found guilty, have to be made before the end of the season.

Why this continues to drag on is anyone’s guess. There needs to be clarity on the situation made urgently because Everton need to know what sort of situation they are facing moving forward from the Premier League.

Of course, due diligence has to be taken and the right decision needs to be reached but the longer this drags on the worse the situation becomes you feel.

Quite frankly, the club, the supporters, the coaching staff and the players all deserve better.
