Everton and Nottingham Forest hearing update emerges in Premier League
David Ornstein has reported that Nottingham Forest will hear the outcome of their profit and sustainability charge next, and then the second Everton decision will follow.
The Athletic journalist reported on 22 February that his understanding is that, following the appeal process at Goodison Park, that will be the order of business for the Premier League.
Ornstein went on to insist that the constant speculation surrounding the verdicts is not helpful for anybody, including the rest of the Premier League clubs.
Writing via a Q&A for The Athletic, he shared: “I hear the Nottingham Forest case will come next and then Everton’s second charge, but some are of the understanding it’s the other way around.
“Clearly, the speculation is not helpful to anyone and the quicker there is clarity the better – for the clubs involved and the Premier League as a whole.”
Second PSR charge timeline emerges at Everton
The second charge for another breach of profit and sustainability rules is likely to plague the minds of both Forest and Everton fans until the end of the season, with new points deductions looming.
With news that Forest will likely hear their verdict first, Evertonians will keep a close eye on the process which could show them what they will be in for at Goodison Park.
However, Simon Jordan recently suggested that, as a result of the second charge, Everton could be handed an even harsher penalty due to it being a second offence, comparing the situation to committing the same crime after coming out of prison.

Alex Crook, meanwhile, insisted that relegation would be a real possibility at Goodison Park if the club are found guilty of their second charge, and handed another points deduction as a result.
In a season where the relegation battle may well be defined by actions off the pitch rather than on it, Ornstein is right – the quicker clarity emerges, the better for all involved.
