Everton news: Idrissa Gueye and Lewis Dobbin injury updates emerge after Brighton

Sean Dyche has provided an injury update on Everton duo Lewis Dobbin and Idrissa Gueye after the Brighton clash.

The Toffees shared the spoils on Saturday, 24 February, with the Seagulls, playing out a 1-1 draw.

Dobbin was absent from the matchday squad while Gueye played the first half and could only last two minutes in the second period before coming off for Amadou Onana.

Dyche said, via the club’s official Twitter handle: “Idrissa had to come off. He said he was fine at half-time, but his groin seized up. It’s too early to tell.”

Dyche also explains Lewis Dobbin missed out with an ankle injury: “We’re hopeful that will settle down soon”.

Double injury blow for Everton

Dobbin’s ankle injury requires close monitoring to ensure it heals properly and doesn’t worsen with a premature return to action.

Rushing him back could prolong his recovery time or even exacerbate the injury, risking further setbacks.

Similarly, Gueye’s groin issue will also be carefully assessed to determine the extent of the problem and the appropriate course of action.

Groin injuries can be tricky to manage, and pushing Gueye back into action too soon could lead to a more severe strain or even a longer spell on the sidelines.

For the Toffees, it’s crucial not to rush either player back before they’re fully fit. Rushing their return could jeopardise their long-term availability and hinder the team’s performance.

Everton boss Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

Hopefully, both of them kick off the niggle and are back in action sooner rather than later.
