Everton: Player could have been sued for £10m in Goodison Park legal twist
Everton have claimed they could have sued one “large asset” player for £10million after a breach of his contract in 2021, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper shared in its print edition [27 February, page 67] that the club feel they should have been rewarded for not taking legal action against the player, referred to as Player X.
This comes following the appeal against their initial ten-point deduction, which saw Everton receive four of those points back, with their case against the punishment proving successful.
Everton will be pleased with their Premier League appeal outcome
Regardless of what could and couldn’t have been done by the club to reduce their financial woes, and the implications surrounding that, this whole ordeal has finally blown over – for now.
The decision to grant four points back to the club, reducing the penalty from ten points to six, comes on the grounds that the initial independent commission had made two legal errors – although seven claims for the appeal were rejected.
However, with a second charge now pending, and the attention of many likely to switch towards that, everything mentioned throughout this process will likely be dragged up again for the almost identical case which could see the club handed another deduction.

As a result of that second charge, every point Everton made in their case remains relevant and will likely be made again, with the threat of another points deduction potentially catastrophic at Goodison Park.
