Everton: Raphael Onyedika transfer now on cards at Goodison Park after new update

Everton have entered the busy race to sign Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika, according to HITC.

The online source has reported [28 February] that the Toffees are targeting a move for the Nigeria international, battling against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

It is understood that the 22-year-old could cost upwards of £13million after Galatasaray had a bid for the young maestro rejected during the January transfer window. [Complete Sports]

Will Everton need a replacement for Amadou Onana?

Onyedika could prove to be an important signing at Goodison Park, with Amadou Onana expected to attract much more interest during the summer transfer window.

Despite no moves for the current Everton midfielder during January, the persistent interest in Onana has remained from the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.

While the sale of the Belgian superstar would release a lot of funds, via his transfer value and wages, a cheaper choice in the middle of the park would make much more sense to escape any further issues.

It would also leave funds to make improvements elsewhere on the pitch, with centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite also linked with an exit from Goodison Park in the summer.

Although Onyedika is only 22 years of age, he has plenty of experience, making 73 appearances for Club Brugge since arriving from Midtjylland in August 2022.

He has also claimed four caps for Nigeria, travelling to this year’s African Cup of Nations, where they lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast in the final, only making a 27-minute appearance in the group stage.

Onyedika looks to be a very solid midfield presence but has been in and out of Ronny Deila’s starting XI, and with potential interest from the Premier League, it could be relatively easy to persuade him into a big-money move.

In other Everton news, a massive £80million transfer exit is now “likely” to be agreed.
