Amadou Onana issue emerges, two players ruled out – Early Everton team news v West Ham United
Sean Dyche has shared his early Everton team news for the game against West Ham on Saturday (2 March).
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday (29 February), the Toffees boss revealed that Amadou Onana has a groin issue that is settling down, while the situation is similar for Idrissa Gueye, with the midfield duo to be assessed ahead of the clash against the Hammers at Goodison Park.
He added that Andre Gomes is back training on the grass, but Arnaut Danjuma and Dele Alli won’t be in contention despite the former doing well in his recovery from an ankle injury.
When asked about Gueye’s situation, Dyche said: “He’s still settling down and Amadou’s got a groin thing, similar to Gueye’s, which is just settling down. We’ll make more of a decision on them tomorrow.
“Arnaut’s doing well with his ankle, but it’s obviously a long-term situation, but he’s doing really well. I just spoke to him actually before I came in and he’s in a good place on that side of things and going well.
“Andre’s been back on the grass with us, he’s going well and Dele’s focus is just on getting fit, nothing other than that. Obviously, he’s got a period to go yet, but he’s just focusing on that.”
Everton looking to put more points on board after appeal verdict
It’s been a much more positive week for Everton than they have had for some time after the news was announced that their 10-point deduction has been reduced to six points.
That should give everyone a lift inside Goodison when they take on West Ham, who will be looking to back up their impressive performance against Brentford with another three points.
The Hammers had been in miserable form before they secured a 4-2 win over the Bees at the London Stadium, with Jarrod Bowen scoring a hattrick for his side.
Dyche will know his players will need to put in a good performance as they look to back up their point against Brighton with a victory at home.
While he will be pleased that the appeal has seen his side earn four points back, the Toffees boss will know they aren’t out of the woods just yet and that a few more wins will be needed before the end of the season to secure their Premier League status.
