Everton Women: Megan Finnigan sends message to fans after West Ham United
Megan Finnigan, the captain of the Everton Women’s team has sent a message to the fans after the win against West Ham.
The club won 2-0 at Walton Hall Park, which was the Toffees’ first home win so far this season.
Currently, they find themselves in a bit of a bother on the Women’s Super League table, sitting in ninth place with 14 points from 14 games.
“It feels amazing,” Finnigan told evertontv after victory over West Ham. “Obviously, it’s our first win at Walton Hall Park this year, so that in itself is an amazing feeling for us.
“The league table doesn’t lie in terms of results, but where we are as a group, we’re trying to do certain things. We’re actually quite happy with most of our performances this year. We’ve just not got the results to go with it.
“For the fans sometimes, it must be difficult. They don’t necessarily see what we do day in and day out, whereas we know [about the hard work] and we know what we’re doing on the training pitch every single week, so we just have stick with that, trust that process.”
Everton need to improve performances
Despite recent positive performances and a sense of unity within the team, the Toffees side find themselves in a challenging position in the Women’s Super League standings.
Currently placed ninth out of 12 teams, they are closer to the bottom than the top, which is not reflective of the club’s ambitions.
While the togetherness and work rate among the players is commendable, results need to improve to match the team’s potential.
Everton should be competing at the higher end of the table, contending for top honours rather than battling relegation.
This indicates that there’s room for improvement in various aspects of the team’s performance, including consistency in securing results against top-tier opposition.

Moving forward, the club must capitalise on any momentum they can get, translate it into more victories, and climb the league standings to fulfil the club’s expectations and aspirations.
