Everton: Youssef Chermiti may now be given more minutes by Sean Dyche
Everton teenager Youssef Chermiti may have been sent off in mid-week but his performance would’ve put Sean Dyche on high alert.
The Toffees manager has watched Dominic Calvert-Lewin fail to find the back of the net for 20 straight games while Beto, who was signed for big money in the summer (£25million+ according to Sky Sports), has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.
The Portuguese striker has scored one goal in 21 league games this season – underperforming his xG by 2.48.
That goal, too, didn’t really make a difference as the Toffees beat Newcastle by a 3-0 scoreline.
Chermiti played fewer minutes for Everton than first expected?
Chermiti, who also moved to Goodison Park in the summer, has been the third or fourth strike option for Dyche this season.
He was signed before Beto and as a relative unknown, many wondered if he would be competing with Calvert-Lewin for a starting berth.
While that has not happened thus far, there are chances that the manager could make a radical change in the next few weeks.
Chermiti may offer aggression to the Everton attack
The 19-year-old bagged two goals against the Fulham under-21s in mid-week and then got sent off for dissent, making headlines.
While a red card is never a good sign, it shows that despite winning 3-1, Chermiti was still pushing himself to go on and get another goal.
For a side that’s been struggling for goals and having to rely on “incredible” finishes from the likes of Amadou Onana, it may be time to give the former Sporting CP forward some more minutes.

According to the Liverpool Echo, he will not be suspended for the game against West Ham and dropping Beto from the matchday squad may send a message that he needs to improve things before it’s too late.
