Arsenal forward Omari Benjamin heads to Everton as official update emerges from Goodison
Everton have confirmed that Arsenal forward Omari Benjamin played for their U-21s side against Tottenham on Saturday (2 March).
The official Everton Academy page confirmed the team news on Twitter, with the 19-year-old included in the starting lineup.
The Welsh U-19 international scored for the Blues’ youth side as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Spurs as Tyler Onyango also got on the scoresheet in North London.
Omari Benjamin could be promising prospect for Everton
It appears as though Benjamin is probably on trial with Everton after featuring for the U-21s side in the comeback win against Tottenham.
It was quite the impression from the teenager as his second-half goal proved to be enough to secure the result for the Toffees.
It’s unclear exactly what his situation is with Arsenal after coming through the ranks at the Emirates, but he could be a promising prospect for the Blues if they decide to sign him.
While it could be some time before he would be in first-team contention at Goodison Park, there is no doubt that Sean Dyche will be keen to bring some more promising youngsters into his setup.
That is something the club’s fans will also be craving after very few young players have managed to make the grade on Merseyside over the past few years.
