Everton: Interim CEO shares ‘Robust’ verdict at Goodison Park amid second Premier League charge
Everton interim CEO Colin Chong has insisted that the club are preparing the “most robust case possible” amid a second FFP charge.
The Toffees were successful in their appeal against the initial 10-point deduction handed to them by the Premier League after being found guilty of a Profit and Sustainability charge.
After being reviewed by an independent panel, the 10-point deduction was reduced to six, which boosted Everton up to 15th in the table. However, there is another challenge to overcome.
Speaking via Liverpool Echo on Saturday (2 March), Chong said: “Premier League rules and legal guidance does not permit me, or the club, to share any details at this stage of the second commission hearing, or the arguments that will be put forward.
“However, I assure you we will prepare the most robust case possible in our defence.”
Everton will continue to fight against Premier League charges
Fans at Goodison Park were grateful to finally hear the result of their appeal on Monday 26 February, with a dark cloud being lifted off the club.
It could not have come at a better time for Sean Dyche’s squad, who were boosted from 17th in the Premier League table to 15th, leapfrogging Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
Without a league victory in nine matches, Everton were close to slipping into the relegation zone with Luton Town hot on their heels, threatened by Championship football for the third successive season.

This could, and maybe should, explain the recent negative results, with a lot of pressure on the players to perform amid a confusing and upsetting situation about point deductions. The uncertainty has been frightening.
Despite the appeal being successful, the situation appears to be continuing, with no obvious end in sight. Everton fans have been brilliant in campaigning for their club, and against the Premier League, and it may be needed all over again.
