Everton: Ally McCoist shares ‘massive’ Sean Dyche sack verdict in new relegation prediction
Everton manager Sean Dyche shouldn’t be immune to criticism but the Toffees boss will do enough to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, according to Ally McCoist.
The Toffees extended their winless run in the Premier League to 10 matches with their 3-1 defeat to West Ham United at Goodison Park on Saturday (2 March) as David Moyes’ side scored twice in injury time to claim all three points.
Some pundits and supporters have suggested that Dyche should be under pressure on Merseyside, but McCoist has come to the Everton boss’ defence suggesting he deserves credit for handling off-the-field issues “tremendously well”.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday (4 March, 8:54) he said: “There’s nobody immune from criticism, let’s get that straight right away, it doesn’t matter who you are, whether you’re Pep Guardiola or Sean Dyche.
“Sean Dyche like every other manager will be judged by results. The one thing you can’t argue with is that he’s handled all the off-the-field stuff extremely well. Tremendously well, but that’s secondary to be quite honest with you because they’re in a relegation battle and they’ve got to stay up.
“I think they will as it happens, I think they’ll be fine. The problem that has concerned me regarding Everton for a long while is their inability to get goals. It’s a massive, massive problem.”
Will Everton sack Sean Dyche if they are relegated from the Premier League?
As McCoist suggests, Dyche has offered some stability at Goodison Park during a period of incredible uncertainty on Merseyside. The Toffees have been left in limbo for much of the campaign over 777 Partners’ takeover and their potential point deductions.
But among the chaos, Dyche has remained incredibly level-headed and not got too high with highs or low with the lows. However, on the pitch, results haven’t been good enough this season and that has left Everton in a relegation battle.

Throughout the Toffees’ 10-match winless run, Dyche’s side has been unlucky with a couple of results but that form is worthy of relegation. Something has to change if Everton want to dodge the drop this season.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that Farhad Moshiri has to axe Dyche, but the Blues boss needs to start picking up results sooner rather than later, otherwise, the pressure will just continue to mount at Goodison Park.
