Everton: Chris Sutton launches tirade at Blues fan on live radio – ‘Embarrassment, Rotten’
Everton have been labelled an “embarrassment” by Chris Sutton for assembling such a “rotten” squad of players following their defeat to West Ham United.
The Toffees extended their winless run in the Premier League to 10 matches with a 3-1 defeat to the Hammers at Goodison Park on Saturday (2 March), despite taking the lead through Beto early in the second half.
Sean Dyche’s side now sit five points above the relegation zone but could be set to face a second point deduction for breaching financial fair play rules and Sutton has launched a tirade at one Everton fan live on air for the Toffees’ spending.
Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live on Saturday (2 March, 24:45) he said: “You’ve spent half a billion, that’s an embarrassment, your team is rotten, when is the last time they finished in the top six?
“More than half a billion and your team is rotten.”
Will Everton be able to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season?
The pressure is mounting on Everton as they appear to be coasting towards relegation from the Premier League this season. Dyche has had the relief of getting some of his 10-point deduction back, but there could be another blow around the corner.
Under Farhad Moshiri’s ownership, Everton have spent incredibly poorly and have left themselves in an incredibly dire financial position, with very little to show for their spending on the pitch.

Hopefully, the Toffees will have just about enough to dodge the drop this term anyway, but Dyche needs to start getting results on the pitch as their recent record in the Premier League has been nowhere near good enough.
If Dyche and his side can book their place in the Premier League again next season, it will be in spite of the Toffees’ reckless spending rather than because of it, but it could be a nervy couple of months at Goodison Park.
