Everton transfer news as Ceiran Loney set for Finch Farm after approach
Everton have made an approach to bring the “talented” young Partick Thistle forward Ceiran Loney to Goodison Park, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper reported via their website on 7 March that the youngster has been given permission by his club to travel to Finch Farm next week.
It is said that Loney impressed scouts with his recent performances and has caught the attention of several top sides in England, with Everton making the first move.
Everton to seal new transfer deal at Goodison Park
Loney has been playing up the years for the under-18 side at Thistle and has held his own despite the more experienced players he has come up against, and the Scottish side believes a path is in place for him to play first-team football.
It is also said that, despite having granted permission for the player to go on trial at Finch Farm, they have not given up hope of tying him down to a professional contract.
Loney is reportedly one of several Partick Thistle youngsters who are attracting interest from elsewhere, and a move to join the academy at Goodison Park could open the floodgates for their highly-rated young stars to leave the club.
Everton’s director of football Kevin Thelwell spoke in December about a new direction for transfers at the club, as they will look to bring younger players in with potential and later sell them to make a profit.

If Loney does make a permanent move after his trial period, his club will likely be due a compensation fee, but if he is able to develop well and eventually feature for the first team, the potential will be there to sell for a big profit.
