Marcus Rashford fit, seven ruled out for Manchester United vs Everton Premier League clash
Manchester United will be without seven first-team stars for the Premier League clash with Everton on Saturday afternoon, Erik Ten Hag has confirmed.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by Manchester Evening News (8 March), the Red Devils boss confirmed that both Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans are fit to play after their withdrawals against Manchester City.
But they will host the Toffees without any of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Omari Forson and Rasmus Hojlund due to injury.
“That’s the good news,” Ten Hag said of team news, “they (Rashford and Evans) recovered after the derby, so they are available, the rest is the same squad apart from Omari Forson. He dropped out, he has an injury.”
“Mason Mount: I think he is in a good spell now and he will return shortly. I think after the international break.
“For next week, some players are planning to return, hopefully when the process will continue like it is now, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka: I expect them to be available for our game against Liverpool. Hojlund as well.”
Everton have a great chance of success
Everton have had a difficult season this year, with a six point deduction making a relegation battle a bit too close for comfort for some.
However the vast majority of their points this season have arrived on the road, with just three wins at Goodison Park all season.
Old Trafford is no longer the fortress it once was, and teams are never scared to go there and push for a win, so Sean Dyche should be looking to do the same thing for this game when a victory is so crucial.
With Man United missing a host of players that would usually be starting regularly for their team, they are weak and following consecutive Premier League defeats they are ripe for the taking.
Everton may never get a better opportunity to go to Old Trafford and get a big win which will also help them move away from the relegation zone, so they must act accordingly.
