Everton: Stan Collymore reacts to 2-0 defeat v Manchester United at Old Trafford

Stan Collymore has reacted after Everton fell to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March).

The Toffees were punished for two individual penalty incidents, as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford slotted home from 12 yards with no reply.

Despite creating plenty of chances, Everton’s general theme of a lack of goals this season continued as Sean Dyche’s were condemned to their 10th league match without a win.

Taking to X on Saturday (9 March), Collymore wrote: “Can’t remember an away team having so much good possession and positions in the attacking third but look so ‘meh’ when it comes to finishing than Everton.

“There’s a team in there but they don’t want to push themselves, do they?”

Are Everton in danger of slipping back into the Premier League relegation zone?

Everton fans were filled with a lot of relief when their appeal against the initial 10-point deduction due to a Profit and Sustainability breach was reduced to six points.

However, the Toffees are still without a victory in 10 league matches, last winning against Burnley in December.

Sean Dyche’s defence is not the issue, with James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite forming an exemplary partnership this season, but rather the lack of attacking presence in the final third of the pitch.

Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have a combined total of five league goals this season, which is still fewer than club topscorer Abdoulaye Doucoure, who has netted six goals.

There is a serious problem at Goodison Park, one that needs fixing if the Toffees are to survive the risk of relegation for a third successive season.

In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has suggested the Toffees deserve government cash for the stadium development.
