Neville Southall predicts result of Everton v Manchester United

Neville Southall has made his prediction ahead of the Premier League clash between Everton and Manchester United on Saturday lunchtime.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (9 March), the legendary Toffees goalkeeper has backed his old club to come away from Old Trafford with a point at least.

And after Sean Dyche came under criticism due to the 10-game winless run heading into the game, Southall put the responsibility on the players and backed them to show they’re good enough.

“Looking forward to watching Everton today,” he wrote.

“Thinking we can get a point at least. People can question the manager but at the end of the day the players must take responsibility for their performance.

“If they play to their full potential we’ll be okay. UTFT.”

Everton need a huge performance

It’s been a difficult season for the Toffees and their fans, with as much drama off the pitch as there has been on it.

But we’re now at the business end of the season and results have to become the paramount priority for everyone, regardless of your feelings towards the manager or certain players.

Manchester United are coming into the game with seven first-team regulars out injured and having lost each of their last two Premier League games, including their last outing at Old Trafford.

Everton will likely not have a better chance of going there and getting a result considering their recent performances, and they have to take that chance.

The players have to be ready to run for 100 minutes if necessary, and the attackers simply have to be more clinical. Everton aren’t in the relegation zone right now but that can change quickly and the team don’t have much time now to save themselves if it gets tricky.
