Tottenham staff on transfer mission to beat Everton to Jacob Greaves transfer from Hull City
Tottenham recently sent one of their senior scouts to watch Jacob Greaves for Hull City as they look to beat Everton in the race to sign the defender, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper reported on page 61 of its print edition on 10 March that Spurs sent their scout to the Tigers’ game against Preston North End on 2 March, where the 23-year-old was fortunate to not give away a penalty as the two Championship sides played out a 0-0 draw at Deepdale.
It added that the English centre-back still displayed a “range of talents” during the game that has brought the attention of top-flight clubs, with the Toffees keeping an eye on his progress this season.
Everton face battle to sign Jacob Greaves
It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to hear that Everton are joined in their pursuit of Greaves by other Premier League clubs following his impressive performances this season.
The defender has helped put his side in a strong position in the Championship as they sit just outside the playoff places on goal difference.
This type of signing would be another indication that the Toffees are looking to change their recruitment style after higher-profile names have largely failed at Goodison over the past few years.

Whether or not the Englishman will be available in the summer will largely depend on which division Hull are playing in next season as he would no doubt be keen to play in the Premier League with his hometown club.
The fact he’s come through the ranks with the Tigers means he could attract a reasonable transfer fee, which wouldn’t be good news for the cash-strapped Blues if other top-flight sides act on their interest.
