Everton acceptance over Neal Maupay emerges despite showing value at Brentford
Everton have accepted that Kevin Thelwell’s signing of Neal Maupay hasn’t worked out at Goodison Park, according to The Athletic.
The online news outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (13 March) that while the 27-year-old has shown his value on loan at Brentford this season, he has deemed to not be a great fit for the Toffees.
It added that the French forward was signed to play as a foil to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but that he was forced to play as a loan striker due to the England international’s injury problems.
Will Neal Maupay ever play for Everton again?
Although Maupay is still very much an Everton player, it feels extremely unlikely that he will ever play for the club again after the miserable time he endured at Goodison.
The forward was shipped out on loan to Brentford after scoring just one goal in 32 appearances since his £15million move from Brighton in 2022.
He has, however, rediscovered his touch in front of goal for the Bees, having registered eight strikes in 25 games this season, six of which have come in this calendar year alone.

It’s unclear exactly what the West London club’s stance will be on the Frenchman come the summer after manager Thomas Frank recently revealed that a decision will be taken at the end of the campaign.
But given that he’s not the most popular figure amongst the Toffees fans following his struggles on Merseyside, it’s hard to see him lining back up at Goodison next season no matter what happens over the next few months.
