Everton: Jordan Pickford named as ‘issues’ emerge for international break – John Cross
Everton star Jordan Pickford is the established number one for England, but Gareth Southgate now has a decision to make, according to the Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their website on 13 March that the boss must make a call on the two goalkeepers to take alongside Pickford as he names his next squad.
Crystal Palace and Arsenal goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale are expected to keep their places, although England have also checked on Rangers’ Jack Butland.
Jordan Pickford is comfortably England’s number one
Pickford has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet for England under Gareth Southgate, as well as turning in impressive displays for Everton, and it would take something monumental for him to be dislodged from his guaranteed starting place in goal.
With Johnstone reclaiming his place in goal at Crystal Palace, he seems to be another sure thing in terms of making the squad, but Ramsdale has largely been on the bench for Arsenal, making a mistake when he was called upon against Brentford.
That has led to questions surrounding his place in the side, especially given the form of Butland north of the border, with the Rangers man receiving high praise and tips for an international recall off the back of his performances.

All the talk at Goodison Park has surrounded Jarrad Branthwaite and whether he would be handed his first international call, but Pickford’s consistency and longevity in the England squad often go unnoticed as his place is expected these days.
In other Everton news, Pickford could be subject to transfer interest this summer.
