Everton: 777 Partners takeover decision date set as report outlines ‘unclear’ Goodison Park future

The future of Everton “is unclear” as the club await a decision regarding the 777 Partners takeover, according to The Standard.

A report by The Guardian earlier on Friday (15 March) stated that the Premier League will make a decision at some point next week.

There is still uncertainty as to whether the takeover will get the green light, and what exactly it means for Everton if not.

An article written by Daniel O’Boyle for The Standard’s online edition [15 March], which outlines 777’s “controversial” dealings, read: “According to reports today, the Premier League is likely to make a decision on the club next week.

“If the deal is not approved, the future of the debt-heavy club is unclear.”

Everton facing uncertain future with or without 777 Partners

Given how far down the line we are with this takeover process – one that was meant to be concluded prior to the end of 2023 – it is unclear if there are any other interested parties waiting in the wings.

Should this 777 takeover collapse – and we should know one way or the other by this time next week – then it is back to square one for Everton Football Club.

Dan Friedkin has succeeded where Josh Wander and 777 failed at Everton.

With Farhad Moshiri not putting money into the club, you have to fear what it could mean as we approach the summer. And that is assuming Everton remain a Premier League club.

Even if 777 does get approval, there have been so many scare stories – justified, it must be said – that supporters will struggle to get overly excited.

Whatever the outcome, there will be pros and cons. Ultimately, supporters want what is best for the club going forward, but right now it is hard to work out exactly what is best. All we can do is sit tight, await a decision and see how things pan out.
