Everton former employee not surprised by latest Sean Dyche decision after what he’s seen

Everton will benefit from the warm-weather training camp in Portugal, according to former Toffees scout Bryan King.

The ex-Goodison Park employee was not surprised by the decision from Sean Dyche to take his players away.

The trip comes amid a break in action for the Toffees due to the FA Cup and upcoming international fixtures.

Asked if such camps are beneficial, King told Goodison News: “Oh yeah, always. They’ve gone to Portugal, on the Algarve, and the pitch is fantastic there.

“Dyche has been there with Burnley actually. Funnily enough, the Irish rugby team usually go there too. It’s amazing grass, hydro grass, a mix of artificial and real. I’ve been there with some Scandinavian teams, playing in the Atlantic Cup tournament.

“A bit of team bonding and also players can get a bit of sun on their backs. It gets them away from the grind of Finch Farm, so I wasn’t surprised that he had taken them away.”

Will the Everton players benefit from time away in Portugal?

It has been a very testing season for the Toffees, who have struggled on the pitch, and have been affected by many issues off it.

But it is the former area which Dyche must focus on, with the manager desperate for a change in fortunes after a nightmare 2024 so far.
