Everton: Sean Dyche expected to make Andre Gomes exit call
Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has featured sparingly this season due to multiple injury issues before the campaign even started.
The Portuguese midfielder’s contract at Goodison Park runs out in the summer and he looks no closer to signing a new one.
Sean Dyche may perhaps make his ultimate decision about whether or not he wants the 30-year-old at the club next season which will then be relayed to Kevin Thelwell and the club hierarchy.
Gomes impressive for Everton whenever fit
Per fbref, in comparison to midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues, Gomes’ numbers are pretty impressive and had it not been for his injury issues, he might’ve had a future at the club.
His non penalty goals tally of 0.38 per 90 minutes puts him in the top 1 per cent of players in his position.
The pass attempts of 70.91 see him in the top 9 per cent while his 8.66 progressive carries and 1.53 successful take ons see him better than 97 per cent and 92 per cent of midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues respectively.
He is, on paper, ideal to have when the team is in possession as he’s not just good at passing, but can advance the ball and apply the finishing touches himself.
Gomes also boasts an impressive pass accuracy of 89 per cent and had he been fit, he could’ve given Dyche and Everton something different in the middle of the park.
Gomes has barely featured for Everton this season
This season, the Portuguese has made just one Premier League start and another four appearances off the bench for the Toffees.

Having played just 197 minutes and already on the wrong side of 30, one expects that his days on Merseyside are numbered.
In other Everton news, there is pressure mounting as the Toffees’ financial future is in doubt amid a fresh takeover twist.
