Everton fan advisory board demands PSR hearing suspended by Premier League in new statement
The Everton Fan Advisory Board has demanded that the Premier League suspend all PSR hearings due to a lack of transparency in a new statement.
The Toffees are due to have a hearing over a second PSR breach next week, with a second points deduction expected having already been deducted six points this season for a separate breach.
Nottingham Forest have also been deducted four points for a PSR breach, but ahead of the second hearing the advisory board have released a lengthy statement (21 March) demanding the entire process is suspended until a process is properly ironed out.
“Everton Fan Advisory Board demands Premier League suspends all PSR commission hearings given, it claims, a ‘lack of any transparent process or framework addressing PSR breaches and subsequent sanctions in a consistent and fair manner’ and ‘application of a potential second sanction covering a time period for which supporters and the club have already been penalised'” journalist Henry Winter shared.
“Also calls on Parliament to “ensure the new Independent Regulator has full oversight and powers” on PSR.”
Everton need clarity as do the rest of the Premier League
The Premier League has been making things up as they go along right now with this entire process and people are finally clocking on.
Everton got done over with a ten point deduction and when the club appealed it, it was clear that the Premier League had just winged the process and come to a random conclusion without any due process.
That was proven when Nottingham Forest got a lesser punishment for their breach despite it being almost double the amount of Everton’s and without the mitigation that came with it.
The Toffees are now resigned to another points deduction because it’s clear the league are trying to make a case for no independent regulator coming in, which means they have to be seen to be making decisions.
Until there is a legitimate process in place that is transparent and makes sense to everyone, these punishments need to be stopped and looked at properly.
