Everton: Doctor shares Seamus Coleman injury update amid international call up
Everton defender Seamus Coleman may not be at a 100 per cent despite being called up to the international squad, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that if the defender is there to play and not for his leadership, it’s highly unlikely that he will be ready to play the full 90 minutes, with the Republic of Ireland set to take on Belgium on Saturday, 23 March.
Coleman admitted he thought that he would not be returning after his previous knee injury and wants to make the most of every opportunity he gets to play for his country.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Coleman:
“The key thing the medics will be warning and implementing with him will be a gradual ramp up to match minutes.
“This is if he’s in fact actually being called up to play and not due to his leadership and veteran qualities he brings to the squad.
“Would be surprised if he’s capable of playing 90 minutes at this stage but if he does feature the majority, I imagine he’s match fit for Everton as well.
“However, that seems highly unlikely at this stage as he may not be fully fit post his recent hamstring issue.“
Coleman’s injury boost can be crucial for Everton
Coleman has been plagued with injuries and that has reduced his involvement with the Toffees first team this season.
The 35-year-old has just played five Premier League games this season under Sean Dyche – with just two starts.

He will be hoping to get more game time and his involvement with Ireland will suggest how fit he is to play for his club.
In other Everton news, there is pressure mounting as the Toffees’ financial future is in doubt amid a fresh takeover twist.
