Everton: National media wowed by Seamus Coleman in 7/10 Ireland rating despite Switzerland loss
Everton star Seamus Coleman impressed national media with his display for Ireland against Switzerland.
The right-back played the entire 90 minutes as his nation lost 1-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday (26 March).
Former Liverpool and Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri netted the only goal of the match in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
Handing Coleman a 7/10 rating, Balls.ie wrote on Tuesday (26 March): “Appearing in a second successive Ireland fixture for the first time since 2021, Coleman was kept busy from a defensive sense in the first half by tricky Swiss winger Dan Ndoye.
“He did get involved up the other end and was often Ireland’s most advanced attacker down that right flank. He moved into the back three for the final half hour of the game and continued to perform well.”
Everton ace Seamus Coleman enjoys successful international break with Ireland
Coleman has unfortunately had his season disrupted by injury, with the Toffees really missing their experienced defender.
His leadership on and off the pitch is something that has been lacking at Goodison Park in recent times, with Sean Dyche certain to be delighted that he is back in action.
The manager will perhaps be somewhat frustrated at how busy Coleman was against both Belgium and Switzerland, with the right-back needing plenty of energy to focus on Everton’s ongoing relegation fight.
At the same time, however, Dyche will be glad that his captain is looking fit and strong once more after his injury troubles.
The right-back played the entirety of his nation’s matches in the latest international break, showing superb energy and determination in Dublin on both occasions.

But he must now switch his focus to the problems at Goodison Park, with his beloved Merseyside club heavily involved in a Premier League relegation battle.
