Everton v Liverpool: Footage emerges of Clare Wheeler post Merseyside Derby
Everton Women’s midfielder Clare Wheeler went to greet a young fan after the Merseyside derby clash over the weekend.
The Toffees played out a 0-0 draw with their arch rivals at Goodison Park on Sunday, 24 March.
Wheeler, the Australia international, then went into the stands to greet a young fan and then sign autographs post game.
The club took to Twitter to share footage of the 26-year-old.
Class act from the Everton midfielder
The Toffees came close and had their chances to beat Liverpool in what was an exciting game of football at Goodison Park.
Acts of kindness like that from Wheeler are incredibly important because they help foster a strong connection between the team and the fans.
When players take the time to interact with supporters, especially young fans, it creates a sense of inclusivity and belonging within the fanbase.
These interactions make fans feel valued and appreciated by their favourite players and team, strengthening their loyalty and emotional investment in the club.
Additionally, such gestures humanise the players and make them relatable figures, rather than distant celebrities.
This personal connection can lead to increased attendance at matches, merchandise sales, and overall support for the team.
Hopefully, the side continues to improve and end the season on a high.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have already made contact to sign two players in the summer transfer window.
