Everton fans can forget about Premier League relegation as ‘easiest’ statistic emerges

Everton have come close to Premier League relegation for a handful of seasons now, but the Toffees have managed to survive each time.

The worrying situation has come around once more in the current campaign, with the Merseyside club currently sitting 16th in the table.

Sean Dyche’s side are just four points above the relegation zone, and have worries with their disastrous form and potentially another points deduction.

They have just 10 matches to save their season, but Toffees fans can breathe a huge sigh of relief ahead of the club’s run in.

The official Premier League website (27 March) has now ranked each club’s remaining fixtures, and fortunately for the Goodison Park faithful, Everton sit second in the list when it comes to the “easiest” remaining schedule on paper.

Newcastle United are top of the pile, with their 10 opponents having an average of 33.5 points won between them this season.

And right behind them are the Toffees, whose final 10 opponents have an average of 34.2 points between them.

Can Everton fans relax ahead of the Premier League run in?

That should allow Everton fans and perhaps even Dyche to relax somewhat as the campaign rapidly draws to a close.

At the same time, however, the Goodison Park fans will be reluctant to rest given how fellow strugglers Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Burnley immediately follow them when it comes to the average points of their remaining opponents.

The Bees and Forest both face totals of 35.4 points, with the final opponents of the Clarets having an average of 35.8 points.

Everton supporters will be desperate for a takeover to go through at Goodison Park

That said, the Merseyside outfit should still be confident of avoiding the drop given the lack of quality below them, although another points deduction could just send them over the edge.
