Sean Dyche shares Everton teammates Jarrad Branthwaite can learn from
Sean Dyche feels that Jarrad Branthwaite can learn from fellow Everton defenders James Tarkowski and Michael Keane.
Dyche managed both Keane and Tarkowski in his time as Burnley boss and now also at the Toffees, and believes their influence can benefit their younger teammate.
In quotes reported by the Football Mirror pullout (page 3, 30 March), Dyche said: “You do want [Branthwaite] to change in a positive way, come out of himself more and keep thriving on it, building his own on-pitch persona.
“I had Tarky and Keano when they were young, they started expressing themselves with the way they play and as leader types.”

Dyche was crucial in the development of both Keane and Tarkowski in his time as Burnley’s head coach.
The 52-year-old spent a decade at the helm of the Clarets and played a role in bringing both to Turf Moor, the former aged just 21 and the latter aged 24 – the pair were eased in during their first campaign before cementing themselves as regular starters thereafter.
Branthwaite, 21, has earned his manager’s trust even faster, being thrust in from the third game of this Premier League season – the first in which he has been available to Dyche, following a successful loan spell with PSV last term.
The left-footed centre-back was even called up to the most recent England squad and can lean on his 31-year-old teammates in that regard, too, with both experiencing brief stints as part of the Three Lions set-up.
With a plethora of wise old heads to guide him at Everton, the future certainly looks bright for Branthwaite.
