Everton: Seamus Coleman summer exit on the cards after what he did v Bournemouth

After his dismal showing against Bournemouth, Seamus Coleman can no longer be the first choice option if Everton are to go to the next level.

Barring his own goal in the 2-1 defeat at the Vitality Stadium on 30 March, there was plenty to worry about from the 35-year-old’s performance.

He was named in the starting eleven and his performance raised doubts not just about his place in the playing eleven but also at the club.

Stats do not make good reading for Coleman

Statistical analysis further underscores these concerns.

Coleman was dribbled past once, committed an error leading to a goal and struggled with passing accuracy, completing only 58% of his passes, per Sofascore.

Despite being on the pitch for 90 minutes, he could complete only 14 passes in the game.

His inability to complete crosses or long balls, along with losing possession 13 times, further exemplifies his struggles on the pitch.

He made one cross attempt and five long ball attempts and was unsuccessful with all of them.

Coleman has faced injury woes at Everton

Moreover, Coleman’s age and injury history exacerbate the issue.

In his mid-30s, Coleman’s physical abilities are on the decline and his battle with multiple injuries suggests a potential decline in performance and durability.

Given these factors, Everton must seriously consider parting ways with Coleman to pave the way for fresher, more reliable options in their quest to elevate the team’s performance and competitiveness.

It’s evident that Coleman’s contributions may no longer align with the Toffees’ ambitions for progression and success.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have already made contact to sign two players in the summer transfer window.
