Everton: Jamie O’Hara fumes as Jason Cundy lands ‘Championship’ dig live on talkSPORT

Jamie O’Hara has told Everton they need to sort themselves out if they remain in the Premier League this season as they can’t keep fighting against relegation every year.

The former Tottenham man insisted the win against Burnley was “massive” as the teams below Everton are “terrible”, but did heap praise on Luton after their win against Bournemouth.

Jason Cundy then joked that the Toffees could be competing for the Championship title next season after a supporter called talkSPORT to express his delight after the win.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [17:37], Cundy spoke to an Everton fan who joked they could win the league next season as he jibed: “Which one, the Championship?

“How many points do you need to stay up? I reckon 32 might do it this year.”

O’Hara then shared: “Massive win. They [the teams below] are terrible. Saying that, Luton Town got a massive result beating Bournemouth 2-1, scoring in the last minute. Going forward, if Everton do stay up you’ve got to sort yourselves out, you can’t keep doing this every year.”

Jason Cundy & Jamie O’Hara share Everton verdict on talkSPORT

The claim from O’Hara that the win against Burnley was a “massive” result for Sean Dyche and his team is all that needs to be said. A huge three points gained, particularly given Luton’s result, keeps them at arm’s length from the relegation zone.

His insistence that the club needs to sort itself out is correct too, a club the size of Everton with their new stadium on the way cannot afford to be in back-to-back relegation battles year after year because eventually they will get bitten.

Just four points separate Everton from Luton in the relegation zone, a tally that would have been cut to just one if Dyche’s team had failed to get a result against Burnley, highlighting once again the importance of that victory.

Everton boss Sean Dyche
Sean Dyche’s Everton side have faced plenty of challenges both on and off the pitch this season.

With another PSR verdict looming and a possible second points deduction at Goodison Park, the teams down the bottom will be keeping a close eye on the situation which could make the difference in the relegation battle.
