Everton: Farhad Moshiri must end 777 Partners talks as superfans ready to complete takeover

Everton supporters’ fear of relegation would have been eased ever so slightly by the Toffees’ important win over Burnley in the Premier League.

In a season that has been surrounded by the off-the-field drama at Goodison Park, Sean Dyche’s side needed three points more than ever to aid their survival bid and they got exactly that on Saturday (7 April).

However, one win on the field doesn’t mean that the issues off of the pitch have vanished and those in charge at Goodison Park are still waiting to see whether the Premier League will approve 777 Partners’ takeover.

Reports suggest that should 777’s takeover fall through, two Toffees superfans are preparing themselves to be able to take full control of proceedings at Goodison Park in an attempt to save the club’s future [Alan Nixon, 7 April].

Andy Bell and George Downing, successful businessmen in the world of finance and property, are understood to be willing to take ownership of the club in its entirety, despite not being keen on owning or funding the Toffees.

Will 777 Partners receive approval from the Premier League for their takeover?

While those around 777 have remained confident throughout the process that they will be approved by the Premier League, there must be a reason it has taken the governing body this long to reach a decision.

The manner in which the American investment firm has run its clubs around the world has been criticised, with various teams in financial trouble and some even being hit with transfer bans, which may put a seed of doubt in the league’s mind.

While Farhad Moshiri has been exclusively dealing with 777, the news of Bell and Downing’s willingness to take over ownership on Merseyside could be enough to show the Toffees owner he would be better off looking elsewhere.

Josh Wander
Josh Wander has been plagued by controversy both in and out of Everton

As super fans of the club, the pair would have Everton’s best interests at heart, something that cannot be said about 777 Partners and Josh Wander. They would likely lead the Toffees into a brighter new era.

If Moshiri truly cares about Everton in any way whatsoever, he should call off talks with the American investment firm and begin negotiations with Bell and Downing to see if some sort of takeover can be agreed upon.

For the Toffees’ long-term financial and footballing future, a takeover sooner rather than later would be best for all parties.
