Everton: Farhad Moshiri makes another poor financial decision after accounts reveal
Dan Plumley has insisted that Everton increasing staff levels despite their bleak financial accounts wasn’t the best move to make at Goodison Park.
Paul Brown admitted he was amazed to read in the latest accounts from the club that staff numbers increased by 41 despite the cost pressures.
The football finance expert admitted that it likely isn’t a great move to make, and goes down as another poor financial management decision by Farhad Moshiri.
“I think the club will always see it as business as usual,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“We saw claims right from the very top from Moshiri when the first verdict around the business model and the plan was to be a regular top-eight Premier League football club and that in itself was a huge ask.
“The investment in the playing squad and investment in other staff around to be able to do that is necessary, but at a time where the finances are looking like they are, it’s probably not a great move to make.
“There were a lot of assumptions there on becoming a mainstay in the top half of the Premier League which was a very hard target to reach.
“That is not just this set of accounts and the staffing increase, that’s rolling it back five years and looking at the overall picture. There have been some really poor financial management decisions there and this is one of those examples.“

Farhad Moshiri gets it wrong at Everton again
The Toffees are due to learn their fate from their second Premier League charge any day now, and if that ends in another points deduction, relegation is possible.
After the latest accounts and moves like these from Moshiri, it is no surprise the club is in this state and something needs to be done very soon to change that around.
