Everton news: Update emerges on further points deduction due to PSR breach

Everton have been handed a fresh two-point deduction for breaking the Premier League’s PSR rules, according to David Ornstein.

This is in addition to the six-point penalty they were handed earlier and sees them fall a place to 16th in the table.

They have seven days to notify the league if they plan on appealing the decision.

Via Twitter, Ornstein wrote: “Everton given 2-point deduction for breach of PL PSR rules. Penalty for 3yr cycle to 22-23. Follows 6-point deduction for previous cycle. #EFC drop 1 spot to 16th, 2 points above relegation zone. 7 days to notify if intend to appeal.”

Everton face an anxious wait amidst a relegation battle

The Toffees find themselves in a precarious situation with the looming possibility of a second points deduction becoming a reality for breaching financial rules.

This uncertainty over the appeal adds pressure to their already challenging battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

With their fate hanging in the balance, Everton fans must play the waiting game, anxiously awaiting a potential appeal.

The waiting game is tough for the club because any further points deduction could significantly jeopardise their chances of survival in the top flight.

On the positive side, if they can successfully navigate through this ordeal, it could galvanise the team, instilling a sense of resilience and determination to overcome adversity.

However, a prolonged period of uncertainty can also disrupt team morale and focus, potentially affecting on-field performances and exacerbating their relegation fears.
