Ex-Everton employee slams Premier League ‘Farce’ amid Manchester City verdict

Bryan King is not a fan of the Premier League’s plans to potentially abolish points deductions, like the one that hit Everton, and introduce a luxury tax as part of a “radical reform”.

The ex-Everton scout believes clubs in England’s top flight are being treated differently from one another.

As per the Daily Mail (4 Mail), the Premier League are considering an overhaul of their profit and sustainability rules following a season in which both Everton and Nottingham Forest have seen points taken off them.

King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that the Premier League are picking and choosing who is punished.

“Everton and Nottingham Forest have had points taken off them, where are the punishments for the bigger clubs with these same question marks hanging over them?

“It looks to me as if it is one rule for one part of the league and another rule for a different part of the league.

“Everton will feel hard done by, the whole season has been a farce regarding these enquiries. Manchester City have plenty more charges than Everton, but nothing has happened there.

“The people devising these financial fair play rules ought to carry them out rather than mess around with them, it is not on, I don’t like it.”

Everton supporters and Sean Dyche would be right to feel hard done by at Goodison Park

While the Toffees did break the rules and were therefore rightfully punished, it feels as if the punishments themselves are different every other week.

Talk seems to have died down at the Etihad Stadium despite the number of charges hanging over Manchester City like a grey cloud, and this “radical reform” would only be to the benefit of Pep Guardiola’s side.

A luxury tax would allow clubs to spend their way out of trouble, something which only certain teams, such as City, can afford to do.

It has been yet another season to forget for the Toffees who will just be desperate for two things – clarity and a level playing field.

In other Everton news, King has shared a “terrible” Goodison Park verdict amid news of a points deduction.
