Everton: New Enzo Fernandez update emerges at Chelsea as 11 players set to miss Toffees clash
Chelsea have been hit by a new injury blow ahead of their Premier League showdown with Everton as Enzo Fernandez and 10 other players have missed training, according to Nizaar Kinsella.
The Evening Standard journalist reported via X (12 April) that Mauricio Pochettinho’s side are now set to be without both Fernandez and Axel Diasi against the Toffees as the current injury crisis at Stamford Bridge continues.
Sean Dyche’s side make the trip to London on Monday (15 April) as the Toffees look to increase the gap between them and the relegation zone having been hit with a brand new two-point deduction for a PSR breach.
Writing on X on Friday (12 April) Kinsella said: “Axel Disasi and Enzo Fernandez join Chelsea injury list. Raheem Sterling and Robert Sanchez listed as ill as 11 miss training ahead of Everton.”
Is Enzo Fernandez fit to play for Chelsea against Everton at Stamford Bridge?
Everton know that a win at Stamford Bridge would act as a massive step towards Premier League safety this season as they look to put a big gap between them and the likes of Luton Town in the final weeks of the campaign.
While Chelsea have plenty of depth in their squad having spent heavily in the transfer market since Todd Bohley arrived at Stamford Bridge, Fernandez and Diasi have arguably been two of Pochettinho’s more consistent performers.
Most pundits and journalists expect Chelsea to come out on top on Monday, but this latest injury update could well see the advantage swing back in the Toffees’ favour. They simply have to take advantage of the Blues’ shortcomings.
Between now and the end of the season, Dyche’s side have to play the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest who all have plenty to play for. It won’t be easy to pick up points and Monday’s clash may be their best chance to get a win on the board.
