Everton pay-off speculates over Sean Dyche sacking as affordability claim made
Everton could not afford to sack Sean Dyche even if the club hierarchy deemed his Premier League form not to be good enough, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The newspaper reported on Sunday (14 April, page 61) that the Toffees boss’ “position was never in jeopardy” despite a run of bad form.
Andy Dunn has suggested that they should be performing better than they are given the quality of their squad but there is good reason why he has kept his job.
With the financial issues and deductions that Everton have faced “the club could could not afford to pay him off anyway.”
This sums up the issues surrounding Everton right now and it will be truly concerning to fans.
Have Everton underperformed this season?
It has to be said that it has been a tough season for the Everton fans and the team to deal with filled with uncertainty and punishments.
It felt that this had spurred Dyche’s side on earlier in the season when they went on an excellent run of form.
They were first deducted 10 points by the Premier League in November. Following this they lost one and won four in a row to carry them away from relegation trouble.
This positivity turned to ruin as the Toffees didn’t win after this run until the Burnley win at Goodison Park (6 April).

There is quality in the Everton squad but a lack of goals has no doubt affected them as they look to move up the Premier League table.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has improved in recent weeks which is certainly promising. The concerns are summed up as Abdoulaye Doucouré is the club’s top scorer this season with six goals.

Given the club record-breaking run of bad form, it is safe to say that Dyche’s side has performed below their potential level.
