Everton v Chelsea: Jamie Carragher issues prediction after Burnley win

Jamie Carragher has backed Everton to get something from their game against Chelsea after their win over Burnley last weekend.

The Toffees travel to London to take on Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Stamford Bridge on Monday, 15 April.

Given Chelsea’s problems this season, even at home, the former Liverpool centre-back does fancy the visitors giving the hosts a run for their money.

He said: “Everton are a tough team to play against. We know they defend well and struggle to score goals.

“Chelsea have had problems all season, at home as well. 2-2 against Sheffield United last time.

“I don’t think that on the back of the win against Burnley, they can’t get something from the game and make it tough.”

Everton will take a point if handed at kick-off v Chelsea

A win for Sean Dyche’s side will take them a long way towards avoiding relegation but they would probably settle for the draw given the fact they’re underdogs.

Carragher makes a valid point about Everton’s chances against Chelsea due to the latter’s struggles at home and the Toffees’ defensive resilience.

They have demonstrated a strong defensive setup under Sean Dyche and should be having the fourth-best defence in the league, which could pose challenges for Chelsea.

Given the financial and ownership issues the club are facing, a positive result at Stamford Bridge would be a significant boost for them.

Dyche’s game plan is likely to focus on frustrating Chelsea, using low blocks and a well structured side to limit their attacking threat.

This approach, combined with the Merseyside outfit’s recent win against Burnley, could provide the foundation for a competitive performance.

By ceding possession and prioritizing defensive solidity, the Toffees may be able to capitalise on Chelsea’s vulnerabilities and secure a crucial result in their fight against relegation.
