Man United ready to sell Casemiro, Christian Eriksen to fund Everton deal for Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester United are willing to sell three players in the summer in order to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper reported via their website on Saturday (13 April) that United are hoping Saudi Arabian clubs take an interest in Casemiro, Rafael Varane and Christian Eriksen to help raise funds for a bid for 21-year-old Branthwaite.

It has been a breakout season in the Premier League for the Toffees defender who has become a key part of the side under Sean Dyche.

Now a report by Simon Mullock for the Mirror has suggested a move away from Goodison Park may be on the cards with Man United aiming to sell ageing stars for inflated fees to Saudi Arabia.

Can Everton afford to lose Jarrad Branthwaite?

After spending last season on loan at PSV last season, it is fair to say that the Englishman has developed quickly given his age.

Branthwaite has featured in over 2,500 minutes where he has been defensively sound while even contributing to two goals [FotMob].

He has ranked amongst some of the best in Europe’s top five leagues when it comes to defensive stats. The youngster has clocked up 1.89 tackles, 1.61 interceptions, 4.64 clearances and 2.68 aerials won per 90 minutes.

All these statistics point towards a defender who is on top of his game and is certainly proving himself under Dyche this season.

Alongside James Tarkowski, the Everton boss has found a solid partnership even if his full-back selection is more debatable.

With Manchester United linked, there is no doubt that there will be a hefty fee involved in the 21-year-old departing Merseyside.

The financial concerns that have plagued the Toffees all season may play their part in seeing him sold if a substantial bid comes in.

Should this offer happen, a new centre-back will be needed but they will certainly find it difficult to replace the qualities of Branthwaite easily.
