Everton: Premier League labelled ‘Laughing Stock’ after what Luton Town star said last week

Bryan King has labelled the Premier League a “laughing stock” after ex-Everton star Andros Townsend admitted recent points deductions make a “mockery” of England’s top flight.

The ex-Goodison Park scout feels as if the current Profit and Sustainability rules, which have seen Everton twice deducted points this season, are not fit for purpose.

King’s admission comes after former Blues and current Luton Town forward Townsend admitted that the recent uncertainty around how financial breaches are punished is not a good look for the Premier League.

Townsend said, (via BBC Monday Night Club, 8 April), “I think it makes a mockery of the Premier League. When you announce the charge, you have to be certain of the points deduction.”

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – agrees with the 32-year-old.

“Sean Dyche must be fed up, and I don’t blame him,” King said.

“He is planning all week at Finch Farm, his side then win a game, and then all of a sudden points have been deducted.

“I just think the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules in their current form are making a laughing stock of the league.

“Does anyone even understand what is happening anymore? Everton have been deducted eight points in total, but what exactly, in simple terms, have those points been taken off them for?”

Everton supporters and Sean Dyche will be desperate for clarity at Goodison Park

It has been yet another turbulent season at Goodison Park, and supporters will be growing sick and tired of constant off-field talk taking away from the team’s performances on the pitch.
