Everton takeover news: Extension may be granted to make it acceptable for Premier League
Paul Brown has revealed that an extension allowing 777 Partners more time to complete their takeover of Everton has “almost certainly” been granted.
It was previously reported that 777 Partners had until Monday 15 April to repay a £158million loan owed to MSP Captial, which was one of the conditions set by the Premier League that they had to meet to complete their takeover of Everton.
The American investment firm had requested an extension on this deadline, which Brown has now provided a potential update on, with no other news on the matter, as of yet.
The journalist wrote via X (15 April), “Everton ownership tussle now incredibly complicated.
“No news today almost certainly means an extension is granted allowing all sides more time to get a deal acceptable to the Premier League done. Delay not ideal for club or fans who just want clarity.”
Everton supporters and Sean Dyche will be growing incredibly frustrated
It seems like this ongoing 777 Partners saga might never end, with the future of Everton seemingly hanging in the balance.
Off-field problems have been the main talking point at Goodison Park this season, with anything that has happened on the pitch merely an afterthought when compared to the drama in the boardroom.
Everton supporters will just be desperate to get back to cheering on their team without the threat of financial punishments or failed takeovers looming over Goodison Park like a grey cloud.
But after this most recent update, it appears as if supporters are no closer to any form of clarity when it comes to the ownership of their football club.
The red flags surrounding 777 are alarming, yet it appears that the American investment firm continues to find a way to keep itself in the running.
Even if 777 do eventually become Everton owners, supporters are unlikely to have much faith in their prospective new owners considering recent events.
In other Everton news, a Sean Dyche sack verdict has emerged at Goodison Park after recent takeover events.
