Everton ‘can’t afford to’ sack Sean Dyche as ‘fear factor’ admission emerges at Goodison Park
Everton manager Sean Dyche has no “fear factor” at Goodison Park because the Toffees “can’t afford to” sack him, according to Michael Ball.
The Toffees have struggled for form in 2024, only winning once in their last 15 Premier League matches while also suffering a new point deduction to slip even closer to the Premier League relegation zone.
Despite suggestions from pundits and supporters that Dyche should be under some pressure for his side’s poor performances this season, Toffees pundit Ball insists the former Burnley boss won’t be going anywhere.
Writing for the Liverpool Echo (18 April) he said: “There’s no fear factor because even if they don’t perform, they’re not getting dropped. There’s no fear factor for the manager because who is going to sack him? They can’t afford to!
“We’re sort of just floating by, hoping that the teams below us don’t pick us points. We’re sleeping right now and drifting back towards the danger zone.”
Will Everton sack Sean Dyche as Premier League relegation nears?
Dyche and the Toffees have had to contend with a number of off-the-field issues at Goodison Park this season and had his side not been handed two-point deductions, they would be comfortably safe from the dropzone.
But those profit and sustainability charges have played a major part in Everton’s season and now they only sit two points above the dropzone. Something has to change to help the Toffees climb away from the dropzone.

As 777 Partners wait continues to complete their takeover at Goodison Park, it seems incredibly unlikely Farhad Moshiri will be willing to foot the bill required to send Dyche packing before the end of the season.
Hopefully, Dyche will be able to keep Everton in the Premier League this season, but if they slip out of the top flight, the pressure will begin to mount on those in charge to make a change in the dugout.
